5. Zach Miller’s Knee Dislocates And Artery Tears (2017)
Not only did Miller's left knee dislocate, but it also tore the popliteal artery. The touchdown he caught during the injury was later ruled incomplete, and even though he learned to walk again, he never returned to football.

6. Paul George’s Gruesome Leg Break During USA Scrimmage (2014)
George broke his tibia during a Team USA exhibition game. His leg bent at a 90-degree angle after landing awkwardly, and the injury caused an immediate halt to the game. It was witnessed by NBA stars and coaches who gasped in horror.

7. Darryl Stingley Paralyzed After Hit By Jack Tatum (1978)

9. Gordon Hayward’s Dislocated Ankle And Broken Tibia (2017)
Minutes into his Celtics debut, Hayward suffered a dislocated ankle and fractured tibia. The injury was visible as his foot twisted completely out of position, and the crowd, announcers, and players were visibly shaken in real time.

10. Marc Savard’s Career-Ending Concussion (2010)
A blindside hit left Savard with post-concussion syndrome. After the injury, he never played another full NHL game. As for the hit, it sparked massive changes in NHL rules on head contact. Savard later said he suffered memory loss and mental fog for years.

11. Clint Malarchuk’s Throat Slashed By Skate Blade (1989)
During a hockey game, a skate blade severed Malarchuk’s jugular vein, and he lost over a pint of blood on the ice before help arrived. The team’s trainer saved his life by pinching the artery closed.

12. Eduardo Da Silva’s Leg Break From Horror Tackle (2008)
A reckless challenge snapped Eduardo’s fibula and dislocated his ankle. Broadcasters refused to replay the injury because of how severe it was. He missed nearly a year of professional play but eventually returned to score in the Champions League.

13. Moises Alou’s Ankle Snaps Rounding Third (1993)
Moises Alou suffered a compound ankle fracture while trying to score from second base. The injury abruptly ended what had been a career-best season. Despite the gruesome break, he returned the next year and made the All-Star team.
14. Napoleon McCallum’s Knee And Ligament Detonation (1994)
